Cell phones operate with radio frequencies, a form of electromagnetic energy. For years scientists have been investigating whether cell phones and electromagnetic fields can cause brain tumors. I admit that the idea of a connection sounds plausible: electromagnetic waves being delivered to a concentrated part of the brain might cause problems. But studies of people who live under highvoltage power lines or near electric substations have so far failed to find a definitive link. Although some people believe that holding a cell phone to your ear for prolonged periods causes brain cancer, there are no studies proving this, either. This is the best we know right now—but it’s not the last word. You can be sure of that.
